Office of Special Events

The Office of Special Events sets the stage for introducing supporters, alumni, donors and advocates to UC Merced's outstanding students, faculty, and one-of-a-kind programs by providing event-planning services and protocol expertise to the entire campus. From official visits and celebrations to intimate gatherings and academic lectures, our office works to produce a unique event experience while achieving the individual goals set forth by our clients.


Our office supports the development and community relations efforts of the campus by:

  • Building visibility through meaningful and strategic events
  • Honoring our donors and their gifts to the University
  • Developing and promoting positive internal and external relationships


Depending on the nature of the event, the Office of Special Events staff assists and advises on:

  • Development of event concept and design
  • Logistical coordination
  • Timeliness and event publicity schedules
  • Facility use and design
  • Cost and trend analysis
  • Budget management
  • Program conception, design and production
  • Printed materials, such as invitations and programs
  • RSVP management
  • Protocol
